J'Burgh is Pittsburgh’s social and professional network for Jewish graduate students and young professionals. This winter, 13 J'Burghers will participate in an 11 day volunteer trip to Israel. Most of the time spent volunteering will take place in Pittsburgh's sister cities of Karmiel and Misgav. This will be a trip unlike any other and receives support from the Edward and Rose Berman Hillel JUC, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh's Partnership 2000...

meeting the fire chief from the Northern Galilee

This past Sunday afternoon, we were lucky enough to have a meeting with some very cool people at the Coffee Tree Roasters in Shadyside. Thanks to Adrienne Indianer at JNF, our J'Burgh Israel group was able to sit down with Ariel Kotler, the development officer for JNF, and Amir Levi, the fire chief of the Northern Galilee. They were able to speak to us about the recent and devastating fire that happened in Israel and also about Israel's need for new and improved fire equipment. The entire talk was very moving and had all of us thinking about what we can potentially do to help.
